Dr. Toan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Family Medicine, Hanoi Medical University and he serves as the local PI in the Vietnam Health and Aging Study (VHAS).

Toan is the coordinator of DodaLab, the only urban Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS) in Vietnam. He has also been working as a senior researcher of FilaBavi rural HDSS. His areas of interest focus on health system research, community health and primary care practices. Dr. Toan is also interested in aging and common health problems, especially chronic non-communicable diseases.
